Fraps images of final EXP3 design - Meeting Space/Dining Table
This is the dining table designed to bring the common traits between the two clients. The tabletop was made oval to symbolise how harmonious in ways of thinking or in relation to how similar both clients can be in terms of status etc. It was not made in a circle because otherwise it would have symbolised unity in every way - there would most likely be conflict between the two. The chairs were designed in that manner to exemplify the simplicity in both clients' lives - or the lack thereof of simplicity in their lives (due to materialistic entities mainly).
As seen in this image, the meeting space is quite circular (almost...but not completely). The notion mentioned earlier is emphasised through this very similar approach of structure - round, circular etc...
This image shows the dining table in relation to its immediate environment - the meeting space.
Fraps images of final EXP3 design - Zhang Yin
This image is actually showing the part of the bridge where it meets the meeting space. The meeting space constitutes of a long "vertical tunnel" - this part could also be considered as part of Zhang Yin's space as the elevator reflecting her character, is the means of access between the meeting space and Slim's space and Yin's. Although a bit difficult to see due the glare of the light, the elevator can be seen at the bottom, at the end of the tunnel. Again, this vertical lift - the rising up etc helps emphasise on the progression of one to power. It reminds us that in order to possess such power, one has to work hard and that it usually is a slow, gradual process.
Yin's space comprises of blocks "floating" in mid air. This is done to underline the notion of superiority - someone with power is someone who is almost divine, mystifying etc. Access to each little space is through elevators as well as (as seen in this image) ramps. Note the elevator in the background of the image.
Stairs were included as part of gaining access to Yin's space. They further emphasise on the idea of slowly and gradually gaining power. In this image as well as other other ones below, it is clearer to see the individual and singular working spaces - they almost act as cells. This was purposely done, not only to reveal the connection with the similarities between Slim and her, but also bring to people's attention the tight and strict upbringing Yin underwent (military).
As seen in this image, as well as the ones above, the use of colour was designed in such a way to show certain ideas reflecting the client's character. In contrast to Slim, Yin is portrayed as a warm person who, judged by the manner in which she works, is also conveyed as humble. This "warmth" is reflected in the use of warm colours such as red, orange and yellow. One can also see the use of "rising" platforms to show what has been mentioned before (like Slim).
Fraps images of final EXP3 design - Carlos Slim
This is Carlos Slim's space. It consists of pillar-like blocks spread out in a circular, ascending manner (towards the meeting space). This symbolises the gradual progression Slim has undergone in reaching the point he is at, at present. These quite rigid structure also embody part of his character - meticulous and in control - however this idea is challenged through the other elements going through the pillars - they represent, in a general sense, the obstacles he has encountered.
This image shows a view of part of his elevator, along with the entrance leading up to his office (the reddish room above near the ceiling, which can be accessed by a platform >> note the hole in the ceiling). The use of the moving platforms (which almost act as elevators) emphasise on the growing power Slim possesses. The room (his office) is red to reflect how powerful he is. the 'corridor' where the entrance is, is quite the opposite as it is blue. This highlights his less than amicable character - although he's powerful, it doesn't make him a warm person. This helps us understand the downfalls of being wealthy. The size of the elevator, relative to him represents the size of his "ego" as well as wealth.
A few other images showing the interior of his space - which is in fact scattered but merely connected by the "obstacle" structures. The spaces within are vast in height, symbolising his power and his empire - this is more emphasised in the texture that has been applied to the internal walls.
Fraps images of Draft 2
Overall model showing the three spaces - where the top space is Zhang Yin's office, the middle is the bridge with the meeting space and the bottom space belongs to Carlos Slim.
The development of the meetin space on the left, almost opposite Slim's space. The key ideas are power through being aggressive, something progressional - he worked his way to the top.
Zhang Yin's space is reflected in this idea of order and structure. It is representative of the manner in which she works and in the person that she in inside. Also reflective of her 'military' upbringing.
Another image showing the three spaces - mainly focusing on the meeting space and Slim's.
